At Valorēs, sustainable development was initially associated with the “Peatlands, soils and sustainable development” sector.
Peat is a natural resource that takes thousands of years to recover.
The need for industry to maximize the yield and the lifespan of the resource has led Valorēs to recruit researchers specializing in sustainable development and the environmental conditions necessary for plant growth.
While the sustainable use of natural resources is a concern in the peat industry, it is also of concern to the fishing industry. The research and skills of our researchers are logically oriented towards responsible exploitation of our resources in the long term.
Consequently, Valorēs has developed research programs and is building expertise in the collection and analysis of environmental data. Public awareness has also become a necessity and an essential component of the projects developed by our institute.
