Analysis

Essential scientific tools

Our laboratories offer the full range of standard microbiology and chemistry analyses.

We develop custom protocols based on demand. This includes soil analyses to measure and assess the physical and water properties of agricultural soils and horticultural substrates.

We also have access to more specialized skills (on request) to widen the range of analyses offered to our clients.

Our laboratories are accredited by CALA (Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation) in accordance with ISO 17025 for specific analyzes and matrices.

Here is the link to our scope of accreditation

Microbiology

Microbiology is centered around the study of microorganisms, be they bacteria, fungi, protozoa or viruses. Our researchers can certify the safety of your samples or detect pathogens in them precisely and rigorously.
Our microbiology laboratory specializes mainly in the enumeration, detection, confirmation and identification of pathogens such as coliforms, E. Coli, Listeria spp., Salmonella spp, Staphylococcus aureus. We mainly deal with samples related to plant health, food products, peat, soil and compost products, and various types of water (drinking, used, salty, runoff, etc.).

Chemistry

Chemistry makes it possible to identify innumerable chemical compounds by provoking reactions to extract, isolate and measure the presence of these elements.

The physicochemical analysis laboratories are equipped with equipment allowing us to offer both general and specialized analyzes in order to meet the needs of our customers. We mainly deal with samples of water (drinking, waste, drainage), oils, marine by-products and peat, soil and compost products.

Over the years, the team of physicochemical laboratories has developed expertise in the analysis of oils and fats and is a leader in the field. This especially in the analysis of fatty acids (monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, saturated, phospholipids, etc.).

For the Industry

Water

Water is an essential part of the life cycle. It dissolves several compounds and serves as a vehicle for all kinds of invisible hosts and molecules. Our analysis tools allow us to measure the safety of water by detecting and identifying undesirable elements.

Food

Food products must meet a series of requirements throughout the production chain, from the supply source to the consumer. Valorēs follows strict protocols to maintain its accreditation with the CALA (Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation) in accordance with ISO 17025.

Environmental

Factory production requires work environments free of pathogens. Examinations and samples taken on work surfaces help prevent contamination of your products. These samples are analyzed within specified time periods as recommended by the health authorities.

Fatty acids

Fatty acids are compounds that play an important role in both human and animal health. Analyzing them at the source and recovering them can lead to new streams of revenue for the company from residues that would otherwise be released into the environment.

Oils

Rancidity levels of oils derived from food products can be determined by oxidation analysis (from exposure to air). This information is important for measuring the shelf life of consumer products.

For municipalities

Water

Drinking water is a service that citizens take for granted. However, maintaining quality drinking water requires constant monitoring and a series of rigorous control points. Whether it's bacteria, fungi, protozoa or viruses, our researchers can guarantee the safety of your samples or detect pathogens to be eliminated.

Environment

Human activities have an impact on the environment. How do we minimize our ecological footprint and develop practices that preserve a healthy living environment? Valorēs can identify, assess and measure the sources of potential contamination and propose adaptation plans to minimize long-term impacts on communities.

For researchers

Specialized analysis

The laboratories at Valorēs are equipped with specialized equipment which can be used by outside researchers. Terms of use, fees and privacy details are subject to prior agreement.

For the public

Water analysis

Individuals can request testing of their drinking water for contaminants. We provide a container and simple instructions for taking a sample yourself and the time frame within which the examination must be done.

Soil analysis

Valorēs can provide you with analysis to detect contaminants, measure the health of your soils, identify certain components that help or hinder plant growth and its acidity (pH).
